Taco Festival 2022

The moment I've been waiting for finally came...and went in a flash! It was so much fun though! I went twice because, silly me, didn't remember that I had bought a ticket for the taco festival in 2021 before they postponed it...again and instead of getting a refund, I had decided to defer it to the 2022 festival. I saw the email WHILE at the festival on Saturday. I asked Jimmie if he was okay with coming back on Sunday and he said YES! YAYAY!

It was a good thing he said yes because we had missed the chihuahua race and the Luche Libre fight. The race was hard to see but loved seeing the little cute chihuahuas everywhere. We had many tacos, mac and cheese and corn throughout the two days there. We also got some churros and ice cream taco. YUUUUMMMM! Birria tacos are hands down the best tacos ever! If you haven't tried one, I highly recommend it.

One of the taco trucks was called RJ's TacoWich!!! Super cool right?! Could have been mine! haha

Overall it was a great weekend! The only downside was that there wasn't as many taco trucks to choose from like pre-Covid days. So sad that it's changed so many things in life. Regardless, we had some gooooddd grub!

Halfway Through 2022

It's been quite a year already! Summer kicked off a few weeks ago with the Food Truck Festival followed by my students' graduation, HopeFest and Juneteenth! I got promoted to Electives and World Languages Department Head and part of me is wondering why I applied but I am looking forward to the challenge. Already, it's been a lot of training on top of learning a new system that effects all of us, company wide.

On a sad note, many of my friends have moved to Ohio, North Carolina, and DC in the last few months. I am hoping in 2024, I will begin to make a big move too. Until then, I fully intend to enjoy all the sunshine, festivals and food this state offers.

One cool event I went to in May was the African Fashion Show. AMAZING! Just look at the photos!

I loved that they showcased designs from specific countries! I wish I knew my heritage better. They had clothes from Uganda, The Congo and a couple other countries too. DOPE! I even bought a skirt for myself :D One of these days, I will wear it.

Another awesome place I went to was Lost Island Miniature Golf and Adventure Park with Jimmie. The best holes I have ever seen AND blue waterfalls!!!

For spring break, I took a trip to see one of my awesome friends who moved to Durham last year. I had a blast catching up with her, meeting her friends, exploring Durham and Myrtle Beach. Can't wait for my next trip back!
