It's been quite a year already! Summer kicked off a few weeks ago with the Food Truck Festival followed by my students' graduation, HopeFest and Juneteenth! I got promoted to Electives and World Languages Department Head and part of me is wondering why I applied but I am looking forward to the challenge. Already, it's been a lot of training on top of learning a new system that effects all of us, company wide.
On a sad note, many of my friends have moved to Ohio, North Carolina, and DC in the last few months. I am hoping in 2024, I will begin to make a big move too. Until then, I fully intend to enjoy all the sunshine, festivals and food this state offers.
One cool event I went to in May was the African Fashion Show. AMAZING! Just look at the photos!
I loved that they showcased designs from specific countries! I wish I knew my heritage better. They had clothes from Uganda, The Congo and a couple other countries too. DOPE! I even bought a skirt for myself :D One of these days, I will wear it.
Another awesome place I went to was Lost Island Miniature Golf and Adventure Park with Jimmie. The best holes I have ever seen AND blue waterfalls!!!
For spring break, I took a trip to see one of my awesome friends who moved to Durham last year. I had a blast catching up with her, meeting her friends, exploring Durham and Myrtle Beach. Can't wait for my next trip back!
